About Imogen
Hello and welcome - thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
I aim to offer a safe and brave space where all emotions can be explored and expressed. I understand that for some people, putting things into words can feel difficult or overwhelming. Because of this, my approach is flexible and responsive to you. Alongside talking, I may invite creative forms of expression such as art, storytelling, movement, or music - supporting you to communicate in whatever way feels most natural and comfortable.
My practice is grounded in respect, curiosity, and acceptance. I am committed to creating an inclusive and affirming space for children, young people, and adults, including those exploring gender, identity, and sexual diversity.
My Approach
I am a qualified Dramatherapist, having completed my MSc at Queen Margaret University. Dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creativity and imagination to support emotional expression and understanding - particularly when words feel either too much or not enough.
Alongside dramatherapy, I integrate elements of person-centred and CBT approaches, allowing me to offer a flexible and tailored therapeutic experience. This integrative approach means we can work in a way that feels safe, meaningful, and effective for you.
Working with Children, Young People & Families
I have experience supporting children and young people navigating a range of experiences, including:
-
Neurodiversity
-
Adjusting to illness
-
Life transitions and changes
-
Emotional and relational difficulties
I work in a child-centred way, creating a space where young people can express themselves safely and at their own pace. I also recognise the importance of supporting parents and caregivers, and where helpful, I can work alongside families to strengthen understanding, connection, and support around the child.
Working with Adults
In working with adults, I offer a collaborative and supportive space to explore your experiences, thoughts, and emotions. While my practice includes creative methods, there is never any pressure to engage in these immediately - or at all. We will work together to find an approach that feels right for you.
This may include:
-
Talking and reflection
-
Using images or objects to explore themes
-
Creative expression through drawing or writing
-
Working with metaphor, story, or archetypes
Dramatherapy has a psychodynamic foundation, meaning we may gently explore how past experiences shape current thoughts, feelings, and coping patterns. Creative approaches can help create a sense of distance from difficult experiences, allowing for reflection in a way that feels manageable and contained.
How I Work
I work in a person-centred way, meaning that our sessions are led by you. My role is to walk alongside you - meeting you where you are, and supporting you at a pace that feels safe and helpful.
I look forward to meeting you.
