Child Therapy

At Dr Craig Dunn & Associates Psychology Services, we offer child therapy delivered by a range of experienced practitioners, including play therapists and child psychologists. Our team draws on a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Systemic Family Therapy, allowing us to tailor support to each child’s individual needs.

We recognise that children communicate and process experiences in different ways depending on their age, development, and circumstances. For many children, play provides a natural and effective way to express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Alongside this, structured approaches such as CBT can help children develop practical skills to understand emotions, manage challenges, and build resilience.

Our therapists adapt their approach to each child, which may include:

  • Play-based therapeutic work to support emotional expression and processing

  • CBT-informed strategies to develop coping skills and emotional regulation

  • Systemic and family-based approaches to understand relationships and dynamics around the child

We also place strong emphasis on working with parents and caregivers. Supporting a child often involves supporting the wider system around them, and we work collaboratively with parents to offer guidance, strategies, and space to reflect on how best to support their child both within and beyond therapy.

Child Therapists

All of our therapists working with children and families are PVG registered and have received specialist training in developmental approaches to therapy. This ensures that support is delivered safely, ethically, and in a way that is tailored to each child’s stage of development and individual needs.
