About Imogen
Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
I aim to offer a safe and brave space where all emotions are welcome to be explored and expressed. My practice is adaptive to the needs of my client and so we may use words in session or I may invite creative expression such as art, story and music. Whatever feels the right way to communicate for clients is what I will strive to support and nurture!
My training is in Dramatherapy and I gained my MSc from Queen Margaret's University. Like play therapy and art therapy, dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy and offers a diverse way of communicating that may be helpful when words are too much (or not enough). I also incorporate CBT and person-centered therapies into my practice as I aim to offer a truly integrative space for clients to explore thoughts, experiences and emotions.
I have experience with children and young people adapting to illness, neurodiversity or life transitions. I also have experience with families and working in a child-centered way that also supports parents and care givers.

Working with Adults:
As a dramatherapist I work with creative methods to help explore themes, experiences and reflections throughout our work together. Having said that- there is never any pressure to dive straight into these methods! I will work alongside you to ensure the work feels helpful and tolerable. Some methods could include sitting and talking, using images to represent themes, creating something on paper, using story and metaphor, or naming archetypes that feel familiar to our daily life.

Dramatherapy is psychodynamic in nature and so although we often connect our current coping mechanisms, thoughts and feelings to moments in our past, the creative therapies help us to reflect on them with some distance and always at your own pace.

I work in a person-centered way, ensuring that themes and exploration are led by you and that I am alongside you, meeting you wherever you may be on your journey. I look forward to meeting you!
